Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries

It's the season of cherries, and I was having some fun on Pinterest when I came across this song. I thought it was so cute and so appropriate.  The lyrics made me smile and made me think how simple life can be if you really want it to be. It can really be as simple as a bowl of cherries. Just live and laugh at it all :)

Life is just a bowl of cherries
Don't take it serious,
Life's too mysterious
You work,
You save,
You worry so
But you can't take your dough
When you go, go, go

So keep repeating "It's the berries."
The strongest oak must fall
The sweet things in life
To you were just loaned
So how can you lose
What you've never owned

Life is just a bowl of cherries
So live and laugh, aha!
Laugh and love
Live and laugh,
Laugh and love,
Live and laugh at it all!

Summer is here and everyone just wants to be outdoors to enjoy to sun. Lucky for us we can be outdoors and still enjoy a nice home cooked meal; queue the barbeque. Instead of just throwing some patties and hot dogs on the grill, how about we make things for fun and healthy. Marinating chicken can be creative and it’s so easy. So this weekend, impress your friends and family with this delicious orange chicken marinade. Serve it up with a salad or rice and just watch everyone around the table ask for seconds and thirds.
check out all the health benefits of eating orange peels, such as prevent cancer, lower cholesterol, and  reduce weight.

Ingredients:

1 pack of 500gr skinless chicken drumsticks, and/or thighs.
1 onion
½ Orange peel cut into strips
1 large tomato
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 lemon
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon tomato paste

Peel and cut your onion into large cubes and throw in large bowl.

In the same bowl, add your thawed chicken and orange peels.

Cut your tomato into large cubes and throw in the bowl too.

Add in all your spices, yogurt and paste.

Squeeze in the juice from the lemon.

Mix well using a large wooden spoon.

Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours or up to half a day.

Place on a well-greased grill (so it doesn’t stick) for about 20min to 30min.

Or (if it starts to rain) throw in the oven in a well-greased oven dish at 350° for about 20min to 30min.

Serve with salad or rice and enjoy :)
